Ten to one, the Nunn

Remember Pat PukeCannon’s speech about how “they” needed to take back “their” cities from the hoodlums and the thugs?

The irony of that speech Just Keeps Growing [via McClatchy]:

Hours after his former fiancee was found shot to death in Lexington, former gubernatorial candidate Steve Nunn slit his wrists and threatened law-enforcement officers at a Hart County cemetery, according to Kentucky State Police.

Uh. Could you guys stick to “Hiking on the Appalachian trail,” and related activities? The rest of the world is about five seconds from wanting mandatory rabies shots for Republican Pols.

State police have charged Nunn with six counts of first-degree wanton endangerment for brandishing a .38-caliber handgun at the cemetery in front of six police officers, including state police and officers from the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, according to Trooper Charles Swiney of the state police.

Police also wanted to speak to Nunn in connection with Amanda Ross’s death. Nice of him save the police the trouble of hunting for the murder weapon.

Nunn was deputy secretary of KY’s Health & Family Services. No, I’m not making this up. He resigned after Ross filed domestic abuse charges against him. Again, I’m not making this up. With Repugs you don’t need to make shit up. You often wish you were making shit up.

To be perfectly serious for a moment, I wholeheartedly agree with the prison pecking order that places guys who kill women one small step above child molesters. Sorry, I’m sure it’s a bit sexist, but guys who hurt women are a special kind of shit. There, I said it. Dip me in chocolate and throw me to the pumi. (Not really, back off.)

So I’m wishing this dirt bag a speedy recovery, a swift trial and a really large and foul-tempered cell mate.
