…for polluting Internet with annoying sounds, tedium.
Just kidding! Sorta (via AssPress):
A blogger who admitted to leaking part of the Guns N’ Roses album Chinese Democracy was sentenced to a year of probation on Monday.
U.S. District Magistrate Judge Paul L. Abrams also ordered Kevin Cogill to serve two months of home confinement, subject his computers to government scrutiny and record a public service announcement for the Recording Industry Association of America.
No really. Just as we can agree that the the world would be a better place if the RIAA was subjected to rectal investigations abruptly & aggressively, we can also agree that this was a patently stupid thing to do.
First of all, anyone with a single brain cell to their name would know that nothing Guns N’ Snoozes recorded after Appetite for Destruction is worth the shit storm this was sure to raise.
Second of all, anyone with half a brain cell would know that the only people who give a flaming damn about Guns N’ Roses are members of the band, the RIAA and attendant lawyers. When this story first broke I was not the only person who assumed it was particularly pathetic publicity stunt. That’s how little anyone gives a fuck.
Seriously, don’t steal people’s shit. Especially don’t steal people’s shit when it might get the RIAA all riled up. Those bastards would charge you royalties for whistling a copyrighted tune, if only they could figure out how. And never steal Gn’R’s shit. No. One. Cares.
This remains the best tale of music related mayhem, evar. Also.
